We all recognise that veterinary care come with a cost for both medicines/items used to treat your pet, and time spent receiving care and advice from our highly qualified team. Whilst it is easy to budget for routine preventative treatment and food for your pet, we strongly advise that your pet is insured to cover the costs associated with unexpected illness or injury.
Not all insurance policies will automatically cover every animal for every condition so it is important that you read the small print carefully when taking out a policy. One of the key things to check is whether the policy is annual or for life, in the former if a lifelong condition which requires ongoing treatment is diagnosed you are only able to claim for the treatment for one year. Many companies ask that you keep up to date with preventative care and follow any veterinary advice given within a certain timeframe in order to be able to claim successfully.
For new puppies and kittens we offer a free month’s insurance with PetPlan to give you chance to take the time to research the options available and find the right policy for you and your pet. This can be activated from the first vaccination once a vet has examined your pet.
In the unfortunate event that you need to make a claim our practice team will do their utmost to make the process as smooth as possible. For long term conditions that are covered by insurance we ask that you submit claim forms regularly. Please submit any completed forms to reception and we will return them once we have processed them.
