Don’t get lost – get a microchip!
Every year more than 300,000 treasured family pets go missing and many don’t find their way home. From April 2016 it will be a legal requirement for ALL dogs by the time they are 8 weeks old to be microchipped and contact details up-to-date. For more information on compulsory microchipping please visit this page.
We advise that you consider a ‘microchip’ for your pet. A microchip is about the size of a grain of rice that is quickly and simply inserted under the skin during a normal consultation.
A unique 15- digit code is stored in each microchip. If a straying pet is found and scanned, the chip can be read. With this number, vets and registered welfare organisations can obtain your details from PetLog. Lost pets and worried owners can quickly be re-united.
